July 13, 2015 - PRLog -- StreetLights Residential (SLR) announced its expansion to the Tennessee market with the opening of its Nashville office to be led by veteran Nashville developer, Marty Heflin.  Serving as StreetLights’ regional vice president of the Southeast United States, Heflin will be responsible for multi-family developments and acquisition activity in Nashville and the Southeast region.

SLR has targeted several new markets for expansion in 2015 beginning with Nashville. SLR identified Tennessee and the Southeast as a desirable market for expansion due to a strong economy and the demand for multi-family developments.

“Marty has an extensive background in the industry and is an active member of several Nashville industry organizations, giving him exceptional knowledge of the market and where it’s headed. I can’t think of a better executive to run the Nashville office,” said SLR CEO Doug Chesnut. “StreetLights’ success and growth in Texas gives our team great confidence we can do the same in other markets that show a demand for multi-family developments. We are excited to bring the unique, luxury apartment homes and mixed-use developments StreetLights is known for to the vibrant landscape of Nashville.”

“Nashville is a growing city, and I’m excited to lead StreetLights’ efforts in this market,” said Heflin. “We are actively looking for developable land in the area. Nashville provides the perfect setting as we look to create distinctive neighborhoods within close proximity to the exciting attractions Nashville has to offer our future residents.”

Prior to joining SLR, Heflin served as the president of Range Light Partners where he focused on multi-family site acquisition and development for a broad range of clients in the Southeast. Prior to that, he was the founder of M2H Group, a multi-family development company with offices in Nashville and Denver focused on urban infill, walkable communities. Heflin also gained extensive experience in multi-family development and management while working for Trammell Crow Residential and Wood Partners throughout the Southeast and Washington DC.

Heflin served on the board of the Nashville District Council of the Urban Land Institute where he chaired the infrastructure committee, which produced the first Music City Infrastructure Report. He also authored the position paper on infrastructure for the NashvilleNext planning consortium, which envisions the growth of Nashville through 2040. He served as president of the Greater Nashville Apartment Association, chairman of the Apartment Council of Tennessee and president of the Tennessee Apartment Association and is still active within each of these organizations. Currently, he is on the building committee for the Dominican Campus and serves as an adjunct professor of real estate finance at the Owen School of Graduate Management at Vanderbilt University.

Heflin graduated from Vanderbilt University on a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (http://www.nrotc.navy.mil/) (NROTC) scholarship in 1980, earning bachelor’s degrees in economics and history. He served as a U.S. naval surface warfare officer, receiving the Navy Achievement and Commendation Medals. In 1986, he received an MBA from Wake Forest University, graduating with high honors as the Babcock scholar.

With in-house development, design and construction expertise, the SLR team creates custom luxury communities that rival the experience, lifestyle and amenities of living in an urban boutique hotel. To date, SLR has more than 3,000 units under construction in four U.S. markets.
