Clinton VFW Receives State, National Honors

Growth, Activity drive local VFW to the Top of State and National Charts

CLINTON, Conn. - July 9, 2015 - PRLog -- For the first time in their 30 years, Clinton VFW Post #9918 has been selected as an All-American Post by the VFW National Commander-in-Chief John Stroud, as well as All-State Post by 2014-2015 VFW Department Commander Greg Smith.

The Post was nationally chartered in 1985, and has been a regular fixture in town parades and memorial services ever since. This year, the post experienced tremendous membership growth, led by the efforts of Post Commander James G. Norrie Jr., and Post Service Officer (now Senior Vice Commander) Bryan Voelker, as well as Post Quartermaster Charlie Mackenzie and Post Adjutant Tom Kehoe. This growth put the Post at 100 Members;144% of their membership goal.

On top of outstanding growth, the Post also worked on their outreach and awareness campaigns. They have started to host Red Cross blood drives, and have contibuted to many veteran's causes in the local community.

Post Commander James Norrie was also recognized for his efforts at the VFW Department of Connecticut Convention in June, receiving the Past Commander-In-Chief Walker Award for Most New Members, and the Past Assistant Adjutant General Burnham Award for Most Re-Instated Members.
