International Yoga Day - Dance Workout Session | Udgam School

AHMEDABAD, India - July 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Yoga Day Celebrations

The event began with a prayer song. This was followed by two rounds of yoga asanas in sitting and standing postures. A few students performed the asanas on the platform and this was followed by the others. In the interlude a select group of yoga experts from our students demonstrated other asanas. Yoga promotes overall fitness of the mind as well as the body. Yoga is in fact a part of the school curriculum and was adopted years ago. So it is not new to Udgam School.

As a part of International Yoga Day, interclass yoga competition was conducted for Std.VI. Students were selected on the basis of their performance in the class. There were three rounds. In the first round, students performed asanas of their own choice, in the second round, they picked up the chits and performed asanas . Third round was judges choice round, judges asked students to perform the asanas. Students were judged on the basis of their posture, correct asana and other nuances.

All Jodhpur teachers gathered at school campus and celebrated the ‘World Yoga Day’ with great enthusiasm. The program began with stretching and breathing exercises. It was conducted by certified and expert yoga instructor Mrs. Arti Thakkar. She taught simple but powerful ‘Asanas’ and Poses and also discussed the benefits of each movement. She encouraged the teachers to do 10-15 basic exercises for healthy and happy lifestyle.
There was a ‘Dance Workout’ session for half an hour, carried out by Mr. Hardik Pandya, director and founder of Jazz Dance Academy. He played some energetic songs and asked the teachers to move and stretch their body. This kind of sessions helps our teachers to disconnect from negative mind sets and grow positive thoughts while being more energetic and fit.
