Chart-Topping and Award-Winning Songwriters Join Forces to Host Co-Writing Workshop in NYC

NEW YORK - July 8, 2015 - PRLog -- The chart-topping and award-winning songwriters behind SongwriterLink, Educated Songwriter, and the New York Songwriters Collective have joined forces to create an intensive afternoon workshop called Master the Art of Co-Writing on August 8, 2015 at Nola Studios in Manhattan.

Open to songwriters of all ages and levels, attendees will gain crucial industry knowledge that all modern aspiring songwriters need, including the dos and don’ts of co-writing, how to effectively collaborate long distance, the business side of collaboration, and more. The event will also feature an open Q&A session with the expert speakers as well as a networking session, where songwriters will have the opportunity to share their music with each other and find potential collaborators, giving them the chance to put everything they’ve learned about co-writing into practice.

“Co-writing not only increases your song output, but improves your songwriting technique and broadens your musical network. It’s a win-win-win,” says chart-topping songwriter Cliff Goldmacher, who will present a seminar at the event. Goldmacher is a veteran of over 800 co-writes, including Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum selling artists Keb’ Mo’, Ke$ha, Lisa Loeb, Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart, and Spin Doctors lead singer Chris Barron.

“A truly great song is one where the music and the lyric combine in such a way that the sum is greater than the parts,” adds New York Songwriters Collective founder Peter Bliss, whose songs have been recorded by artists ranging from Barbra Streisand to NSYNC. “It can happen alone, but often the co-writing experience lends itself to that kind of magic.”

“There are plenty of resources out there to help aspiring songwriters learn the basic techniques and craft of songwriting, but our goal with this workshop is to shed light on the realities of being a songwriter in today’s music industry – and co-writing is a much larger part of that than many people realize,” says Lisa Occhino, founder of songwriting collaboration website SongwriterLink and first place winner of the BMI Foundation’s 2012 John Lennon Scholarship, a national songwriting competition. “You’d be hard pressed to find a song on the Billboard charts that wasn’t the result of a collaboration.”

Registration and full details about Master the Art of Co-Writing can be at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/songwriting-workshop-master-t.... Registration is open on Eventbrite through 11:30 p.m. EST on August 6, 2015. Space is limited to the first 75 attendees.
