Follow on Google News | New Food Allergy Awareness Company Raises Awareness while Protecting KidsBy: AllerWare Over the past 10 years, Komssi has become a public advocate for the safety of children with serious allergies. “After a lunch bag mix-up in 2nd grade landed my son in the hospital, I knew something had to change.” She started the Central Massachusetts Parents of Children with Food Allergies Support Group and began talking with principals, nurses, and school superintendents to ensure that no other child would go through what her son did. “Out of the support group came a resource guide for our local school system, which has since been adopted by school systems around the country. The support group has also held Allergy Awareness events at libraries and schools,” added Komssi. Ms. Komssi is the director of social media for Allergy Moms, an online support group founded by author and advocate Gina Clowes. “This position gave me the opportunity to interact with more than 16,000 mothers of food allergic children from all over the world,” she said. All of this experience has gone into the development of AllerWare, which is unique in its focus on providing protection for young children with serious allergies. “All of AllerWare’s products meet the needs of the parents of children with allergies in a fun and creative way, while raising awareness of the needs of our children,” added Komssi. Food allergies affect 5% of all children under the age of 5—more than 1 million children in the United States alone. Allergic reactions can be severe. Every 3 minutes an allergic reaction to food sends someone to the emergency room, accounting for more than 200,000 emergency department visits a year. “Young children with allergies need a special level of protection, as they may not be aware enough of the issue to monitor risk. AllerWare’s products have been developed to protect young children by alerting others to their allergies. Our bracelets, stickers, temporary tattoos, and other products provide a visible reminder to keep harmful allergens away from your child. “Each day parents of children with food allergies fight to keep their children safe. AllerWare’s goal is to alleviate the feeling of helplessness parents feel when they are not able to be with their child. “Our products bring peace of mind when you’re not there, whether it be the start of a new school year, a new babysitter, daycare provider, camp, birthday party or even when a child is left with a grandparent.” AllerWare in the news: https://youtu.be/ To learn more about AllerWare, LLC and its founder, Marci Komssi, contact: AllerWare, LLC 42 Lincoln Point Road Charlton, MA 01507 (774)318-8087 mkomssi@allerware.com End
