Follow on Google News | Adelphi Wins Big at Press Club of Long Island AwardsThe Delphian’s Editor-in-chief Victoria Chiesa ’15 was honored with the College Journalism Scholarship Award, which recognizes outstanding college student journalists who either attend a Long Island college or live on Long Island. Other highlights from the awards ceremony include Victoria Chiesa, Jennifer McNally ’16, and Alexa Froccaro ’15 winning the top three awards in the sports reporting category. Chiesa was also awarded first place in the new category of Social Media Blog for her blog, The Tennis Island. Jaclyn Binstock ‘15 won second place in the feature story category. Assistant Professor Mark Grabowski was awarded first place in the editorial/commentary category for his article in USA Today, and Senior Adjunct Professor Liza Burby won third place for education reporting for her article on longislandwins.com Adelphi’s Communications Department Chair and Professor Paul Thaler applauded The Delphian’s success saying, “The Delphian continues to be an important news medium for Adelphi, at the same time giving students the opportunity to produce their work at the highest level for their community. In that respect, the Press Club awards are not unexpected—they deservedly recognize the talent and hard work of our journalism students and their teachers. All these awards have come as a result of hard work and dedication.
