Hike it Baby: Helps Families Hike On!

PORTLAND, Ore. - July 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Hike it Baby, an international organization dedicated to getting families outdoors, is aiming to spread their message to 1000 families all over the North America and beyond, through their Hike it Baby Hike On event. Hikes will take place Saturday, July 25, 2015, with each of the organization’s 125 branches hosting at least one event to get families with children of all ages out on the trails. Participants who attend or host an event and log in at www.hikeitbaby.com/hike-on have the opportunity to win prizes from well-known outdoor outfitters, such as Garmin, OnyaBaby, and Superfeet. Hikers can participate anywhere in the the world, even if they don’t live in a Hike it Baby city, and can list their hikes on the Hike it Baby Official Calendar.

“We had nearly 1700 people join us for American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day and we think we can double this number,” says 43-year old Hike it Baby Founder, and first time mom, Shanti Hodges. “We want to raise awareness across America about the importance of getting little ones on the trail! With the ever growing issue of childhood obesity, ADD, ADHD and behavioral issues, getting out into nature has never been more important. Hike it Baby was developed to help create an outdoor habit for children from birth on and we think this event really represents who we are.”

Hike it Baby hosts free hikes throughout the US, Canada, Australia, and Italy. Hike it Baby aims to help families minimize the effects of postpartum depression in new mothers (and fathers), create a network of like-minded individuals, encourage families to discover new parts of their cities and county, and teach children an appreciation for nature from the newborn stage on. The organization was founded in Portland Oregon in 2013 by Shanti Hodges and is run entirely by volunteers. Currently, there are 125 branches with over 37,000 members worldwide
