Follow on Google News | 3300 Journey to Support Puppy Mill DogsOnePulse is biking across the United States this summer making stops along the way to work with each of its three partnered charities, The Young and The Brave Foundation, the Fuller Center for Housing and National Mill Dog Rescue.
The eight-week ride began on June 12 in Los Angeles and concludes on August 12 in New York, NY. The 3,371-mile ride is broken into eight segments with an average of 75 miles traveled per day. During each segment of the ride, the cyclists will work on projects with the rides' partnered charities. The OnePulse riders will arrive at National Mill Dog Rescue’s facility in Peyton, CO on July 5th, will work on projects, including the arrival/offloading of 25 rescued puppy mill dogs, then depart on their journey east on July 7th. About OnePulse OnePulse founder Eric McQuesten was inspired to start OnePulse after cycling cross-country and raising money for the Fuller Center for Housing. Eric wanted to build a community where multiple charities could combine resources and help each other. OnePulse had its first annual cross-country ride last summer. About National Mill Dog Rescue National Mill Dog Rescue is a Colorado Springs based 501(c)(3) organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes discarded commercial breeding dogs from puppy mills. NMDR relies on volunteers to care for the dogs, from the moment they are surrendered to the time they are adopted and beyond. They depend on the generosity of the public to provide the high level of care they do for the dogs and to continue to be able to save them. To date, National Mill Dog Rescue has saved more than 10,000 dogs from puppy mills. National Mill Dog Rescue started with a single sentence in an e-mail that Theresa Strader received: “50 Italian Greyhounds in need.” A large-scale breeding operation, or ‘puppy mill’ was going out of business and all 561 dogs were going to auction. One of those dogs was a seven-year-old Italian Greyhound named Lily. The moment their eyes met through the wire of Lily’s tiny cage, Theresa knew her life had changed forever and that this new life would include Lily and a mission to bring about lasting change.
