ARF Announces Best Year Yet for Pet Adoptions

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - June 30, 2015 - PRLog -- WALNUT CREEK, CaliforniaJune 30, 2015 – ARF is thrilled to announce 2,601 dogs and cats were adopted in fiscal year 2014-15, marking the biggest adoption year in the organization’s 24-year history. This milestone is a remarkable 12% increase over the previous year’s 2,280 adoption record.

“We are overjoyed at this success and new milestone for ARF, and for what it means to all the animals who were re-homed,” says Executive Director Elena Bicker. “We are grateful to the community for opening their homes to shelter pets, and look forward to this next year when we can rescue even more.”

ARF was founded in 1991 after Tony La Russa rescued a cat from the ballfield while he was managing the Oakland A’s, and was inspired by his wife Elaine to start ARF. In its first year, the organization re-homed 11 dogs and 146 cats.

ARF’s core mission is the rescue of dogs and cats who have run out of time at public shelters, giving them a chance at life until a new home can be found. ARF couples this focus with innovative programs strengthening the human-animal bond for children, seniors, veterans, and people in disadvantaged circumstances. Through ARF, people experience the unconditional love and acceptance of dogs and cats to fulfill a mission of “People Rescuing Animals…Animals Rescuing People…”® http://www.arflife.org
