Area 51 Researchers to Speak on History and UFO Connections

LAS VEGAS - June 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Shortly before Area 51, the world's most secure military base, was built in 1955, Lockheed Skunk Works aircraft designer Clarence "Kelly" Johnson filed a report with the U.S. Air Force about two UFO sightings he personally had. "For at least five years, I have definitely believed in the possibility that flying saucers exist. Having seen this particular object on December 16, I am now more firmly convinced than ever."  The strange relationship between Area 51 and UFOs will be explored in a special lecture by researchers Noe Torres and Ruben Uriarte on Saturday, July 18, at 7 p.m. at the National Atomic Testing Museum, 755 East Flamingo Road, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The presentation, titled "Exploring Dreamland: A History of Area 51," is part of the museum's "Area 51 Special Lecture Series." Admission is $30 for the general public, $20 for museum members, and $10 for students with valid ID card. In addition to the lecture, the Smithsonian-affiliated museum offers a unique exhibit called "Area 51: Myth or Reality," which opened in March 2012 and remains incredibly popular with Las Vegas tourists. Torres and Uriarte, are authors of Aliens in the Forest, The Coyame Incident, Fallen Angel, UFOs Over Mexico, and other books about famous UFO cases.They have appeared separately and together on a number of television shows, including UFO Hunters, UFO Files, Monster Hunters, Ancient Aliens, and UFOs Over Earth. Their research is featured in an upcoming film by Patrick Connelly titled They Rode the Flying Saucers. They also appear frequently on Coast to Coast AM and speak at numerous UFO conferences each year. Uriarte is director of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) in Northern California, and Torres is a former MUFON state section director from Texas.

In discussing the history of Area 51 based on declassified documents, newspaper accounts, and eyewitness testimony, the authors will also explore how the mysterious base first became associated with UFOs. Accompanying their talk, a multimedia presentation will feature video clips and still photographs of the base throughout its history, as well as recent developments at the base and including all the known "black projects" that have been tested there.

"This lecture is excellent for those with minimal knowledge about Area 51, as well as persons who are already familiar with its fascinating history," Uriarte said. "It's such an expansive topic that I doubt we will cover all the material we have collected in our research, but we will try. We have 90 slides with numerous still photos, video clips, and audio clips. I think the audience will be amazed at some of this information."

Among the material they will present are recently declassified documents about Area 51 founder Clarence "Kelly" Johnson's UFO sighting in 1951, after which Johnson drew detailed sketches of a streamlined, boomerang-shaped metallic aircraft. Torres and Uriarte suggest that Johnson's UFO encounter may have influenced his later designs of several key stealth aircraft for the U.S. military.
