Patient-Centered Medical Home Emphasizes Patient Care and Meaningful Use of EHR

ST. LOUIS - June 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Curas, Inc., a St. Louis based healthcare IT firm specializing in eClinicalWorks EHR implementation, continues to support clients across the country in their pursuit and recognition of Patient-Centered Medical Home Status. The latest client to receive NCQA’s PCMH Level 3 Recognition, which is focused on patient-centered care through a primary physician who becomes “home” for all care, is Family Care Associates of Effingham, Illinois.

Curas has provided eClinicalWorks training and support for Family Care Associates since 2007. The practice developed reports that would compile the appropriate data needed for their PCMH recognition.

“The PCMH model will continue to become more important in the delivery of health care, as well as the process for reimbursements, today and into the future,” said Num Pisutha-Arnond, Managing Partner at Curas. “This model is based on providing and managing all aspects of health care, with the goal of enhancing care, creating greater patient engagement, and lowering costs due to reducing hospital stays and emergency room visits.”

“Our teamwork is what made this possible,” said Janice Westendorf, Practice Administrator. “The two year journey challenged us, and we worked on developing solutions together. We are fortunate to have a group who will embrace change to transform to the new care models in healthcare.”

Family Care Associates worked with their eClinicalWorks system to extract and report on data that would help them demonstrate their ability to meet the NCQA, PCMH program’s highest criteria, which includes patient access to their health record, management of patient populations and patient care, and systems for reporting and measuring performance. The practice’s mission, to provide the highest quality care to the patients and families they serve, was a driving force in their decision to pursue PCMH recognition.

“Curas is proud to now have a number of eClinicalWorks clients who have successfully achieved their PCMH recognition,” said Pisutha-Arnond. “We’re continuing to support more clients through this process with reporting and optimization of their eClinicalWorks systems, integration, and workflow consulting to help them put the right processes in place. This gives physicians and practice managers the tools and confidence to attain this high level of recognition.”
