June 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Neural stem cells (NSCs) are multipotent progenitor cells that have the capacity to self-renew and differentiate into neurons and glial cells. NSCs are derived from the ectoderm of the developing embryo and give rise to the central nervous system. In the adult brain, NSCs can be found in the subventricular zone and the hippocampus. Nestin is a Type VI intermediate filament protein that is widely used as marker for neural stem cells. GeneTex’s Nestin Antibodies, when used in conjunction with other key stem cell biomarkers, allow for more accurate lineage characterization and differentiation.
