WASHINGTON - June 28, 2015 - PRLog -- AUSTIN – The Texas Association of African American Chambers of Commerce (TAAACC) will host its 16th Annual Conference in Austin, Texas September 24-25.

“We are especially pleased that William Michael Cunningham will deliver his Texas Economic Forecast for the third consecutive year,” said TAAACC President Charles O’Neal. Mr. Cunningham is a Washington, DC-based economist, author and business expert. “William’s analysis and understanding of the dynamic Texas marketplace is always remarkably insightful, and he never makes his observations without offering solutions for the benefit of Texas Black-owned businesses. We are thrilled to be able to provide this invaluable presentation to conference attendees.” Mr. Cunningham's 2014 Texas Black Economic Forecast can ve viewed here: https://youtu.be/E_AgImRM_Wk

Mr. Cunningham responded "I am honored and humbled to be invited back to this important gathering. As I have noted before, Texas has a unique and very entrepreneurial environment that  can serve as a model for African-American businesses across the US."

This year’s conference will also feature important sessions on opportunities in construction, transportation, and energy as well as updates on the recently completed 84th Texas Legislature.

“The Legislature approved nearly $3.5 billion in tuition revenue bonds this session, assuring a boom in construction across virtually every public university in the state,” O’Neal noted. “Coupled with nearly $1.5 billion in new state agency office buildings in Austin, and nearly $5 billion in funding for the Texas Department of Transportation, it is clear that besides the $16 billion the state spends on goods and services already, we are witnessing a watershed period for Black-owned businesses in construction related fields.”

The conference will also feature vendor/exhibit booths hosted by nearly 40 state agencies and businesses interested in improving utilization of Black-owned businesses as suppliers.

“The vendor expo has always been a highlight of our conference,” said O’Neal. “The contacts made and relationships established during our conference have yielded millions of dollars of opportunity for TAAACC members over the years. We expect this year to be even better.”

The TAAACC Annual Conference will be held at the Austin Marriott North beginning on Thursday evening September 24.

“We have an exciting line up of speakers and presenters, we have a bustling economy, and we have tons of opportunity for Texas’ Black-owned businesses,” O’Neal concluded. “That’s a perfect formula for both a successful conference and new opportunities for business growth. If you’re in business in Texas and you miss this conference you’re doing yourself a disservice.”
