MACOMB, Mich. - June 26, 2015 - PRLog -- At Instituto Nacional de Pediatría in México City, the orthopedic surgery team performed Extra-Osseous TaloTarsal Stabilization (EOTTS) using the HyProCure® stent as a procedure for the treatment of recurrent and/or partial talotarsal joint dislocation (RTTD) procedure on multiple patients’ feet. Working side by side were Dr. Aramiz López Durán from Instituto Nacional de Pediatría, the largest pediatric hospital in Mexico, and Dr. Juan Goez, visiting from the United States. Together, GraMedica, Artrolife, S.A. de C.V., and Graham International Implant Institute provided educational grants in support of these events.

Two of the children having the HyProCure® procedure done on May 30, 2015 told their stories to a team from GraMedica and Artrolife. Team member, Michael Spiegler was quoted, “Children afflicted with RTTD often experience pain, including shin splints and heel pain. This slows them down and they cannot participate in activities like their peers.” Mr. Spiegler also noted, “At Instituto Nacional de Pediatría, an incredibly busy pediatric hospital, sponsoring these live surgeries allowed the Residents to learn the EOTTS procedure in a live setting which was incredibly useful. Now, not just these children were helped, but many more in Mexico City will be.”

Dr. Aramiz López Durán is a Pediatric Orthopedist and Traumotologist practicing at multiple hospitals in México City where he tackles the most complex and challenging foot and ankle conditions and surgeries. He is highly qualified to see and treat any ailment or condition patients may suffer from in their foot and or ankle. Both children suffered from flatfeet caused by talotarsal dislocation, experiencing symptoms that led these patients and their families to look for treatment. Dr. Aramiz López Durán sees a number of patients with the RTTD condition and discovered and underwent training in 2014 on the EOTTS procedure with HyProCure as a solution.

Dr. Juan Goez is a visiting foot surgeon from the United States that treats both pediatric and adult foot and ankle conditions. Just prior, Dr. Goez had been amongst a group of globally-recognized instructors at the VIII Curso Internacional de Cirugía Mínima Invasiva de Pie y Tobillo meeting at UNAM
in México City.

Left untreated, talotarsal joint dislocation can lead to serious, long-term foot, knee, hip, and back related issues that often require aggressive forms of surgery. The minimally invasive EOTTS with HyProCure® procedure has provided tens of thousands of pediatric and adult patients with immediate
correction for congenital/acquired talotarsal joint dislocation.
