Follow on Google News | Tech Startup Shoto Collaborates with United Nations Foundation to Commemorate 70th AnniversaryBy: Shoto Shoto is a new mobile experience for exchanging, organizing, and discovering photos from the moments people have shared together. Shoto aggregates all the photos you and your friends took together, allowing you to request the ones you may have missed and share them easily among friends. “The anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter is a moment to celebrate the essence of the charter as captured in its opening words: ‘We the peoples.’ This is a call to action and reminder that everyone has a role in helping create a better world. Working with Shoto gives us an open platform to engage many people in the celebration through creative photo sharing,” said Aaron Sherinian, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, United Nations Foundation. The photos from the UN Charter anniversary will be published with artful layouts including titles, maps, and comments. Android and iOS mobile device users attending the celebration will be able to use Shoto to create a global photo collection celebrating the charter signing. Those who are unable to attend can view the photos on the newly designed web experience and like or comment on the photos. The 70th anniversary marks the launch of Shoto Events, which offers a new way for event organizers like the United Nations Foundation to bring photos and social media content into one place. Organizers can generate a custom event code (in this case 062615) and Shoto ensures anyone who submits photos was actually present. The web experience not only displays photos submitted on Shoto, but also aggregates them with Twitter and Instagram feeds using the hashtags #UNdiscovered, #UN, and #UN70. “Shoto is an ideal place to gather photos from this unique global event, because the app was designed to let any number of people create a shared photo album in the form of a beautiful story,” said Mark Rolston, Chief Creative Officer of Shoto and Founder of argodesign, the product design consultancy that helped design the app. “Shoto and the United Nations Foundation are both aligned in their missions to unite people around the world. With Shoto, everyone can take part in the 70th anniversary celebrations whether they are in San Francisco, New York, Shanghai or Nairobi. The app and web experience aggregates all the social conversation across the various platforms that exist so everyone can contribute,” To take part in the UN Foundation’s commemoration and view/submit photos, download Shoto on iOS or Android and enter event code 062615 in the Events tab on the sidebar.
