Norcross Youth Lacrosse Launches New Program in Norcross, Georgia

NORCROSS, Ga. - June 24, 2015 - PRLog -- Norcross Youth Lacrosse, a newly formed organization created to advance the sport of lacrosse through good sportsmanship, excellent coaching, and team building, announces the official launch of a youth lacrosse program in the Norcross area. The program will bring to the community an opportunity for youths ages 7 to 14 years of age to take part in organized lacrosse locally, rather than having to travel to another association or league, and is open to anyone in the age bracket, and not limited to residents of Norcross. A soft launch was met with great attendance and enthusiasm at the 5th Annual Peachtree Corners Festival on June 13th and 14th, 2015.

“The inspiration for the program was to provide Norcross High School a local feeder program so that rising high school freshmen would potentially gain previous lacrosse experience should they choose to play for Norcross High School and beyond,” said Nathan Mutic, head coach of the Norcross High School Boys Blue Devils. “Currently, there is no program in place in our community. However, the response we received at the Peachtree Corners Festival was overwhelmingly positive, and the community interest was way beyond our expectations. At this point, we really believe that we are on the right course.”

Norcross Youth Lacrosse will hold a free lacrosse clinic open to the public on July 8th and 9th, 2015, at the Peachtree Corners Baptist Church sports field located at 4480 Peachtree Corners Circle, Peachtree Corners, Georgia 30092. Georgia Tech Lacrosse Team players and Norcross High School coaches will direct the youth clinic. “We are excited to kick off the youth program by offering a free lacrosse clinic,” added Casey Fleming, assistant coach. “It will give kids that may have never played lacrosse an opportunity to experience the sport, as well as offer kids with experience a chance to play on a local team. This will also give parents an opportunity to become more familiar with the sport, ask questions and volunteer if interested.”

The organization is looking for volunteers for positions on the Board of Directors and coaching, as well as lacrosse equipment that can be donated or loaned for the free youth clinic.
