Exponent Partners Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary by Becoming a Benefit Corporation

SAN FRANCISCO - June 23, 2015 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA: Exponent Partners, a mission-based technology firm that exclusively serves nonprofits, is excited to announce that it has furthered its commitment to socially-responsible business and social impact by becoming a California Benefit Corporation.

Benefit Corporations elect to include requirements in their bylaws to meet higher standards of transparency and accountability in the pursuit of their social missions. California is one of the 27 states who have passed benefit corporation legislation. Exponent Partners joins this growing number of companies using the power of business to address the most pressing environmental and social problems.

On its 10-year anniversary, Exponent Partners’ celebrates its ongoing dedication to socially responsible business. From its founding, it has sought to drive greater connectedness between nonprofits, stakeholders, foundations, and government agencies. It has been certified as a B Corp since 2011, and has focused on building the capacity of the sector through technology. Exponent Partners is a top-level Strategic Partner of the Salesforce Foundation and originally worked with the Foundation to introduce the QuickStart Program in 2010. The QuickStart Program,  a cost-effective solution to get nonprofits up and running with donor and constituent management in just two weeks, has introduced hundreds of nonprofits to the state-of-the-art Salesforce platform, and has created a community of organizations using data to improve the sector.

Exponent Partners also collaborated with human services experts to develop Exponent Case Management in 2011, an innovative case management solution which couples insights from the sector with the flexibility of the Salesforce platform. Exponent Case Management puts outcomes data in the hands of case workers in the field in order to drive better programs and better results for clients. The company also advocates for adoption of outcomes management, a data framework for nonprofits to better understand their results and provide more transparency across all constituents.

“Becoming a benefit corporation represents our view that social enterprises can set the bar at a higher level. I hope our participation is part of a larger trend that looks at how businesses and corporate entities really add to society instead of causing greater divisions. We don’t think of this as a labeling exercise -- this is part of the change that we want to see in society. I think that it’s a sea change that is happening. I’m very proud of our company for being part of that, and we’ll strive to advance that mission,” said Rem Hoffmann, CEO at Exponent Partners.

With particularly deep expertise in the human services, foundations, and education sectors, Exponent Partners works to provide flexible technology solutions and improve outcomes for a broad spectrum of nonprofits. These solutions enable the management of fundraising, student data, client cases, and organizational outcomes. The platform can also expand to drive all aspects of the organization - including front office (such as communications), back office (such as human resources), and mission management (program and performance management). Past and present clients include the Skoll Foundation, GlobalGiving, the Tipping Point Community, the Common Application, Lutheran World Relief, Ashoka, B Lab (the nonprofit that certifies B Corps), the KIPP Foundation, the Posse Foundation, Playworks, TNTP, the Goodwill of San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin, and The Children’s Aid Society.

Speaking about Exponent Partners’ focus on helping nonprofits manage outcomes, Romanus Berg, former CIO of Ashoka praised Exponent Partners’ work for his organization: “Exponent Partners was our strategic business partner that enabled us to implement Salesforce at a fraction of the cost of a typical CRM solution. The team’s entrepreneurial fiber and deep knowledge of the Salesforce solution were indispensable. Institutionally, we now have increased visibility into what is happening across our network of constituents. This enables us to closely measure and monitor our performance against goals, so we can see where we are recognizing value and where we need to invest.”

Exponent Partners’ commitment to its social mission includes initiatives as a community member. The company has run a multi-year QuickStart Grant Program which awards a free QuickStart service to a nonprofit applicant, with preference to organizations that would otherwise not be able to afford it. To support its values as an employer, the company provides paid training opportunities and 100% paid benefits amongst its full-time employees, promotes volunteerism through annual drives, supports work/life balance in company culture, and is committed to transparency in governance.
