ScatterRadio Sponsors Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate Program

LOS ANGELES - June 23, 2015 - PRLog -- ScatterRadio is a proud sponsor of the Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate Program. During May and June, teen poets ranging in age from 14-19 years old submitted poems and 12 finalists were chosen by a panel of judges. From these finalists, the LA Youth Poet Laureate will be selected and presented with a book deal from Penmanship Books on June 28 at the Marker Taper Auditorium.

In partnership with Urban Word LA, ScatterRadio will broadcast free podcasts from this event available to stream and will sponsor a second #ScatterPoetWeek this year from July 6-13, due to the success of the first #ScatterPoetWeek which took place May 11-18 and featured podcasts from the Apollo.

The Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate is a joint program of Urban Word Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Arts & Athletics Alliance, supported by LA County Commission on Human Relations, PEN Center USA and the Academy of American Poets. The LA Youth Poet Laureate program aims to identify young writers and leaders who are committed to civic and community engagement, poetry and performance, and Human Relations, Diversity & Social Justice.
