Guitar Guru Reveals Methods Behind Mastering Lead Guitar Creativity

Hess says: “People often try to solve a lack of creativity by learning as many new scales, licks or arpeggios as possible. However, this does not solve the problem at all… if anything, it makes things much worse by overwhelming the player. In addition, many guitarists avoid learning one thing or another and end up with glaring imbalances in their skill set. This makes it incredibly difficult to play actual music with the skills they possess. Although it is important to learn new skills/licks/etc., the real keys to creativity are fluency, integration, application and mastery of the skills you already know.”
