NEW YORK - June 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Humanitas Media Publishing Announces the Release of Journey to the Heart of the World

New York City
– Humanitas Media Publishing (http://www.humanitasmedia.com), an independent publisher of such authors as award-winning Western poet/playwright Red Shuttleworth and Hemingway great-granddaughter, Cristen Hemingway Jaynes, has announced the release date for its next offering, Journey to the Heart of the World, a Paulo Coelho-reminiscent work of fiction by author John Lundin.

Lundin, having previously written The New Mandala: Eastern Wisdom for Western Living in collaboration with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, has with this work turned to fiction for a magical parable about humanity, indigenous wisdom, and the need for a more profound consciousness when it comes to environmental issues and spiritual insights necessary to not just survive, but thrive in a challenging world.

On the inspiration for the book:

"After a year and a half in India, studying with the Dalai Lama and other high lamas and spiritual teachers, I returned to the United States and joined the staff of Menla Mountain Retreat Center, an endeavor of Tibet House New York and loosely affiliated with the Office of His Holiness, where I assisted in leading spiritual retreats. In 2011 Menla Mountain hosted an historic gathering of Native American Elders from throughout the Americas. It was during that amazing spiritual event that I met the delegation of Elders of the Kogi, the Arhuaco and the Wiwa from la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia. They invited me to come to Colombia, to learn from them, and to write a book that would share their urgent environmental and spiritual message with the world."

The book, written over the last three years while Lundin has lived in Colombia, will be available via Kindle exclusively on June 24, 2015. The print release for the book will take place later in 2015.

Additionally, a portion of proceeds from the work will be going to work in the region to preserve both the indigenous culture and the environment of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta where these tribes reside.

Advance praise for Journey to the Heart of the World:

"A must read for every concerned and caring person on the planet! John Lundin's Journey to the Heart of the World is an epic adventure filled with ancient wisdom that has been handed down from generation to generation since humans first began to understand their place in the Universe. Our very survival depends on heeding its call – to choose wisely as we meet the difficult challenges of the 21st century and beyond!" - Laurence Overmire, poet, environmentalist and author of The One Idea That Saves The World: A Call to Conscience and A Call to Action

"Journey to the Heart of the World is an imaginative adventure story which urges us to pay attention to our relationship to the Earth. A real reflection of the environmental destruction the planet faces today, the story inspires and reminds young readers to listen to the natural world to recover love for the Earth. It is a journey to help us remember the real magic of life that we have forgotten, to reconnect with the great conversation of life." - Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee Ph.D., Sufi teacher and author of Spiritual Ecology: The Cry of the Earth

"Every now and then, a book comes along that uniquely and powerfully points the way toward a new and important wisdom that humanity must embrace: John Lundin's Journey to the Heart of the World is just this kind of book. Taking you from the mountains of New York to the mountains of Colombia and back again, this journey has so much of value to start the next generation on the right path, and to help those of older generations find the path that can bring harmony to our relations with one another and with the Earth." - Todd E. MacLean, Editor-in-Chief, Global Chorus: 365 Voices on the Future of the Planet

"When we begin a journey it leads us through some of the most amazing trails! One of these trails can be an inspiring step into a world filled with experiences that perhaps would seem to be a dream. Yet, it is real, then it’s surreal - because the sights and sounds around you are so illuminated by the elements in their most natural state, and the people are also illuminated in their relationship and understanding of the world. Journey to the Heart of the World, a novel by John Lundin, is a subtle reminder that there are experiences and trails that lead us to the top of the mountain where one will see the world from a whole new perspective. Reading the book gave me moments of wonder and a knowing smile - I could relate.  - Mona Polacca, Havasupai, Hopi, Tewa, International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers

"Journey to the Heart of the World is a journey home. Though life circumstances are different for each of us, we are all being called home again. We are being called to remember that we are all indigenous to this sacred Earth that gives us life. We are being called to understand that every action we take determines the kind of world we will leave for future generations. This story reflects this journey in such a beautiful breathtaking way that it will inspire readers to connect the dots in their own lives toward real change. Future generations are counting on it." - Xiuhtezcatl Tonatiuh Martinez, 15-year-old environmental activist and Youth Director of EarthGuardians.org
