A Warm Woodbridge Welcome for Hot Mamma!

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. - June 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Hot Mamma is New Jersey's first and only mobile hot beverage truck that serves freshly brewed hot coffee in various flavors, a large variety of hot tea and rich hot chocolate. During the summer months they serve regular and flavored iced coffee, as well. Cold bottled water is always on board.

The concept has been 5 years in the making for Julie Lehmann and she finally had the opportunity to turn her concept and idea into a reality.

Lehmann explains that her 2 teenage sons play baseball just about all year round. Winter workouts start in February and pre-season games start in late March, and we all know how cold it can be in NJ in March and April! They play in day and night games all the way through fall ball, which usually ends in October. "I can't tell you how many games and practices I would be sitting at with other parents and I would say 'Wouldn't it be great if there was a truck that came around like the ice cream truck but sold hot drinks, like coffee and tea?' Other parents would chime in and agree saying how easy it was to pack a cooler with cold drinks, but once you finish your hot drink, you are done. We would all nod and agree...and continue to sit in the cold."

Lehmann already had an active event planning business but she was also noticing the trend of the popularity of food trucks. She began to do some research on her concept and also reached out to others in her networking circle and began to see the real possibility of turning this idea into something. She then realized she could offer this as an "add on" service to her events. After a large party the truck could be parked outside of the venue so the guests could take a cup of coffee or tea for the ride home.  The possibilities were endless! Lehmann soon decided this was what she wanted to do. It was time to look for a truck. Unfortunately, all of the vehicles she had found were very expensive and needed much work to comply with her plans and design layout necessary for this to be successful. "I don't believe in the term 'for now' because it usually turns in to 'for ever'. If you want to do something right, make sure you are doing it at the right time the way you want to do it, not just settling on something for now."  So she put her idea on the back burner and thought if it was meant to be something would come along. About a month later she received a phone call letting her know that there was going to be a public auction for some school vehicles that were no longer in use and she could bid on one. It seemed like the perfect opportunity! 2 weeks later she received a letter that she won the bid and was the proud owner of a 20 passenger mini school bus! It was time to spring into action and breathe some new life into this bus that had been sitting in the back of the transportation lot for almost a year!

Excited with a new sense of purpose Lehmann moved quickly getting her bus road ready and then design ready. She had set a goal to be road ready on September 1st. Inspections needed to be done; state and township paperwork filed; health department approval granted and a myriad other small details. It was a lot to do in a short period of time but she was focused and on Monday, September 1st Lehmann was granted all of her approvals, licenses and permits and Hot Mamma was born!

From September to December Hot Mamma was on the road daily at local businesses, schools, parks and just about everywhere in Woodbridge Township! She had delicious cookies made by Nicole Borota, Jersey Cookie Girl, which she would give away to anyone willing to take a picture by her logo. She attended local school functions and fundraisers, too. Soon she had a small group of loyal customers from these events and from Sunday soccer games or weeknight PAL street hockey games. These fans would later become affectionately known as Mammacitas and their photos would appear on her website and social media sites.

In May of 2015 Hot Mamma sponsored and attended "Caveman's Ride for Cancer" and met Chris Caivano, an amazing father, husband and friend who was first diagnosed with colon cancer about four years ago.  Caivano had surgery to remove the tumor, received chemotherapy and was cancer free!   But the cancer came back. He had surgery and chemo again. But, this time the chemo was difficult and he could no longer work. Chris is a member of Demented Souls Brotherhood, a Middlesex County-based motorcycle club that focuses on charitable works, and the members organized Caveman's Ride for Cancer to help Chris. Hot Mamma was honored to attend and met so many amazing people that day. Chris has become a huge supporter of Hot Mamma and he just celebrated his 43rd birthday and received the best present ever, a clean bill of health from his doctors and Chris is once again, cancer free! Do you think it had anything to do with the Demented Souls Dark Roast coffee that was served? Ok, probably not, but coffee is good for the soul.
