New novel launched by Pete Conrad at NYC's BookCon showcases the gritty '80s LA drug sceneSet in the violent and power-hungry Los Angeles drug underworld of 1985, The Arbiters is a story of love at first sight, rebirth, and spiritual awakening.
By: Author Pete Conrad About BookCon with its 18,000 attendees over a two-day period, Conrad said, "It was a great experience. It was refreshing to be amongst such a diverse group of avid readers — many of them eager to discover emerging authors such as myself." "The Arbiters" is inspired by Henryk Sienkiewicz’ With one hasty decision, Sein ignites a series of events that results in colossal misunderstandings, unimaginable jealousy, and deadly consequences. As Marcus and Sein are forced to confront the brutal aftermath, each man embarks upon a personal, spiritual journey. Along the way, they both discover the love that exists in their hearts, and perhaps, how to make peace with their inner demons. One early reviewer notes, "...Exciting scenarios, with several twists and turns, and a great set of unique characters. [The Arbiters] would make a great mafia movie or mini-series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of five stars. " Conrad has previously published "Going Home" and "The Suicide Flowers," and considers his work to be plausible, commercial fiction. His stories feature "funny, flawed, and familiar" characters who often face difficult choices and circumstances. In addition to being a full-time writer of novels, short stories, and screenplays for the last ten years, Pete is the Director of Communications for the National Tutoring Association, and enjoys playing bass guitar while his Great Dane and muse, Eros, watches on. Conrad is available for interviews, media appearances, and book signings. Photo: https://www.prlog.org/ End
