Originating from the Sanskrit word “Yuj” which means “to unite”, Yoga aims at union of mind, body and spirit. This 5000 year old discipline involves practice of Asanas (physical exercises), Pranayam (breathing exercises) and Meditation to relax mind and body and ultimately attain self-enlightenment.

Considering innumerous benefits of Yoga, Aide et Action- Bhopal came up with a unique initiative of taking this ancient Indian practice to the children of stone-crushers, brick-kilns workers, construction labour, etc. “We as an organisation, committed to education of underprivileged children, want to use this opportunity to take Yoga to all our operational areas. This would help children to overcome stress, enhance their social skills and improve health,” said Pravin Bhope, Regional Manager, Aide et Action.

As part of the Yoga project, children were taught Yoga in a fun-filled and interactive manner. Apart from the basic exercises, children learnt interesting asanas like Khargosh(hare) asan, Titli(butterfly) asan, and Simhasan (lion).

“I am happy to be part of this yoga program as it is loads of fun to exercise along with Masterji”, said Nihal from the Globus construction site, Bhopal. Kajal, daughter of construction labourer said, “I learnt about Yoga now and I really enjoyed doing this sitting at one place”.
