Follow on Google News | Yoga for Underpriveleged ChildrenBy: Communication Resource Centre Recognizing the importance of Yoga in providing holistic approach to health and well-being, UN General Assembly declared 21st of June as International Day of Yoga. The India-led resolution, adopted under the agenda of 'Global Health and Foreign Policy,' was co-sponsored by 175 nations out of the 193 member UN General Assembly. Considering innumerous benefits of Yoga, Aide et Action- Bhopal came up with a unique initiative of taking this ancient Indian practice to the children of stone-crushers, brick-kilns workers, construction labour, etc. “We as an organisation, committed to education of underprivileged children, want to use this opportunity to take Yoga to all our operational areas. This would help children to overcome stress, enhance their social skills and improve health,” said Pravin Bhope, Regional Manager, Aide et Action. Aide et Action runs a total of 39 Projects reaching out to a population of 7, 31,695 across India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. As part of the Yoga project, children were taught Yoga in a fun-filled and interactive manner. Apart from the basic exercises, children learnt interesting asanas like Khargosh(hare) “I am happy to be part of this yoga program as it is loads of fun to exercise along with Masterji”, said Nihal from the Globus construction site, Bhopal.
