SAN DIEGO - June 20, 2015 - PRLog -- SAN DIEGOThe San Diego Book Awards Association announced the winners and finalists of THE 2015 SAN DIEGO BOOK AWARDS on June 20, 2015.

Authors Ken Reeth and Matthew J. Pallamary joined forces to write "DreamLand", a novel about computer generated dreaming, which was honored as an Award Winning Finalist in the Science Fiction category of the 2015 San Diego Book Awards. It originally took First Place in the Independent E-book Awards in the horror/thriller category back when e-books were in their infancy. Soon after winning, the publisher folded and DreamLand went into limbo. Sadly, soon after, Ken passed away from leukemia on May 9th 2005.

Recently updated and revised by Pallamary, DreamLand was republished in print and e-book formats by Mystic Ink Publishing.

Fueled by breakthroughs intechnology and neuroscience, the terminally ill, while in an induced slumber, in a pain-free, medically supervised environment, can literally dream their lives away in preprogrammed situations of their choosing, controlled by a super computer. The well-meaning creators of computer generated dreaming plan to conquer the stigma of death by making its wonders available to all, so people can die in vivid, pre-programmed dream surroundings, reliving blissful moments from their past. All goes according to plan until the dream of DreamLand is shattered by the profit-seeking backer of the project, bringing dire consequences.

Pallamary’s second short story collection, “A Short Walk to the Other Side” published as a tribute to his mentor Ray Bradbury, was also honored as an Award-Winning Finalist in the Short Story Category of the San Diego Book Awards, as well as an Award Winning Finalist in the USA Best Book Awards, and an Award-Winning Finalist in the Short Story Category in the 5th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL BOOK AWARDS (IBA).
