BlazeSports America Hosts Official Olympic Day Track & Field Meet

ROSWELL, Ga. - June 20, 2015 - PRLog -- BlazeSports America hosts an official Olympic Day Track & Field Meet on Saturday, June 20. Three-time Olympic sprinter Pierre Browne (who is the BlazeSports Track & Field Coach) and Paralympians Jessica Galli-Cloy and Gavin Cloy will be in attendance during the meet, which will include 11 events, each of which will be offered for ambulatory kids or veterans with physical disabilities and wheelchair athletes of all ages.

"As a United States Olympic Committee Multi-Sport Organization and the legacy organization of the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta, we are proud to support the Olympic Movement and encourage children of all abilities to lead healthy, active lives."

WHAT:         The BlazeSports Classic Olympic Day Track & Field Meet is one of 700+ nationwide events celebrating the birth of the modern Olympic games. The event is also a WASUSA (Wheelchair & Ambulatory Sports USA)-sanctioned, one-day track & field meet and a Paralympian Meet & Greet.

As a USOC Multi-Sport organization, BlazeSports America is the only Georgia adaptive sports organization marking the Olympic Day celebration in metro Atlanta. Around the world, the Olympic Day events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic Movement, feature athlete appearances, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences.

More than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration, which was created in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games. Olympic Day focuses on the Olympic values and ideals such as fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship. In the United States, Olympic Day events range from small gatherings to large, citywide events.

WHEN:          June 20, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

WHERE:       Centennial High School, 9310 Scott Rd., Roswell, Georgia          30076

EVENTS:        Field: Shot put, Discus and Javelin

         Track: 20m, 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and          5000m

There will be one heat for each distance in ambulatory and wheelchair divisions.
