Back2Us Radio Network Issues Statement on Charleston Massacre

ATLANTA - June 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Back2Us Radio issues the following statement regarding the shooting at the Emanuel African American Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC. This massacre is being investigated by state and federal law enforcement agencies as a hate crime.

“We, the Back2Us Radio Network family would like to extend our condolences to those families affected by the Charleston, South Carolina massacre. We remember Cynthia Hurd, 54; Susie Jackson, 87; Ethel Lance, 70; Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, 49; Hon. Rev. Clementa Pinckney, 41; Tywanza Sanders, 26; Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr., 74; Rev. Sharonda Singleton, 45; Myra Thompson, 59.This was not just a shooting and Dylann Storm Roof was more than a gunman. This was a massacre. It was a deliberate and intentional act of domestic terrorism and assassination executed by Dylann Storm Roof. It needs to reported as such.

We at The Back2Us Radio Network are deeply saddened by the manner in which these events are being reported in many traditional media outlets.  We are exhausted by the continual whitewashing and nuancing of white terrorists in this country and demand that traditional media outlets muster up the courage to report Dylann Storm Roof in the true light of his actions.  He is a domestic terrorist who has murdered eight people and assassinated a sitting State Senator of South Carolina.  He has taken 9 lives in the name of hate.  This was a deliberate, premeditated choice and should not be rationalized away as a mental illness.

As independent members of the media, we charge Bloggers, Podcasters, Live Streamers, Social Commentators and other independent media outlets to continue to raise their voices in opposition of the narrative being fed to us and declare this heinous act as what it was;  An act of domestic terrorism and an assassination of a sitting state Senator.  Anything less would be deceiving the public who trusts independent media to bring truthful, unbiased reporting. The people depend on us to tell them the truth.  Our voices are strong and our voices make a difference.”

The Back2Us Radio Network believes that within our community are the resources, knowledge, inspiration and capabilities to empower, educate, and enlighten each other.

We believe in providing space for the voices of the change-makers and leaders of our community. We believe we are all advocates. We fiercely believe that everyone deserves space for their voice and we practice solidarity with those who are frequently left voiceless in the mainstream media.
