WARWICK, N.Y. - June 18, 2015 - PRLog -- This year's workshop theme with Charles Lewton-Brain at the Center for Metal Arts is "Foldforming for Vessels" on July 24-26, Fri-Sat-Sun 9 AM to 4 PM. Participants will learn how to use the natural dimensionality of the folded sheet metal form to build vessels. Foldforming, the recent art technique of creating dimensional forms from folded metal, is volumetric, and the organic, often podlike forms lend themselves naturally to vessel building for jewelers and sculptors. Charles Lewton-Brain, the internatioally renowned pioneer of foldforming, will be giving ample close-up demonstrations of technique and idea generation. Edge treatments and finishing options will also be covered. Participants will have two-three hours of guided hands-on studio time each day to practice and experiment with a variety of folds.

This year there are four ways for artists, jewelers and sculptors to attend:

(1) FULL REGISTRATION includes all lectures, demos, and hands-on studio work under supervision of Charles Lewton-Brain and the Center for Metal Arts staff. During studio time, participants will make samples, refine designs, and learn the process of building vessels using foldforming techniques in the Center for Metal Arts studio. Registrants are invited to bring their own projects in process to work on in the studio uner the guidance of Charles Lewton-Brain. Requirements: Foldforming Basics workshop or equivalent experience.
