Women entrepreneurship and business support event to be held in Calgary

CALGARY, Alberta - June 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Dexterity Ventures Inc. (DVI) is presenting an event on empowering women entrepreneurs on Wednesday, June 24. ‘In Conversation with…Vicki Saunders’ is a women’s only event which will discuss the state of women’s entrepreneurship in Canada and the world.

Vicki Saunders, the event’s special guest, is the founder of SheEO, an organization which mentors, guides and accelerates women-led ventures in Canada. Saunders is a serial entrepreneur who has co-founded and run ventures in Toronto, Europe and in Silicon Valley. She has decided in this next stage of her career to support women investors and entrepreneurs by providing opportunities to connect and support one another.

“As a woman who is running a data company, I am very excited that we could host Vicki and convene this very important conversation,” said Gena Rotstein, CEO of Dexterity Ventures Inc. “The opportunities for women to strengthen our impact in various markets and industries is abundant.”

Women make up 47 per cent of the workforce, but represent less than 30 per cent of the decision-makers as business leaders, investors, and board members. Through this event, DVI aims to spark a discussion on how communities can support and grow women in the C-suite of companies.

“Having access to educators, mentors and industry leaders like Vicki Saunders, to share knowledge and foster connections is one of the ways we can increase our penetration and impact on how our economies grow,” added Rotstein.

Interested entrepreneurs, businesswomen and supporters are invited to join this women’s only event on Wednesday, June 24 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Memorial Park Library in downtown Calgary. The event is free. There is a suggested donation of $10 to the Place2Give Foundation, DVI’s non-profit arm, which will direct the funds to areas of greatest need.
