DJ East 137 - The Strong Survive With Words

You may already know that DJ East 137 attempts to use every minute ofrecording time to inform, teach, and create awareness of issues that impact social well-being. “States of the Blind” suggests that although the social landscape of our urban communities might seem hazy and difficult to see through, that with an organized approach, issues can be mitigated.


DJ East 137 is a native New Yorker and DJ who temporarily relocated to the District of Columbia as a student. To supplement his income, he had his DJ rig and music shipped from the Bronx, New York to The District where he enjoyed many years of DJ work for private and commercial clients in the DMV. This includes a long term residency as the main DJ at Chief Ike’s Mambo Room in Adams Morgan, N. W. Washington DC.

East 137 began his music career in New York City. Prior to relocating to DC, he released two undergroundsingles titled “Are You Ready” and “Spanish Fly”. They were published under A Get Wit It Productions Records. New York’s 98.7 Kiss FM’s and WBLS FM’s weekend DJs broke the singles that today are still considered highly desirable collectors items around the world fetching upwards of $150.00 US dollars on the open market.

DJ East 137 left the scene for a moment while he completed post graduate studies. He spent some time working in his profession before he reorganized to restart the music creative process. For East 137, the road to today was a tumultuous one leading to some clarity and direction in life, and in the music process. “Even so, with every passing day, It dawns upon one just how much more there is to learn about everything”-DJ East 137.


States of the Blind was written and produced by DJ East 137, recorded at the Hood Related Entertainment company Studio in Arlington, Virginia in May 2015, and published by A Get Wit It Productions Records-ASCAP.
