Pro Golfers at US Open at Chambers Bay Set Bad Example for Amateurs

High speed cameras and detailed instruction leave weekend golfers baffled and playing well below their potential.

PLANO, Texas - June 17, 2015 - PRLog -- America's weekend golfers are angry at television golf coverage for using perfect golf swings as a teaching model for amateurs.  With superfast cameras, the golf swing of a top professional is broken down into tiny pieces.  After repeatedly failing to improve from these tips, amateurs underestimate their true learning potential.

Actually, television golf instruction is sound but it is communicated to the student in a “foreign language”.  Golf is taught visually yet golf is learned by feel. Before the student can learn anything, he must translate golf instruction into the specific feeling in the hands created by good technique.  You can’t learn good technique by sight, you have to feel it first.

Golf Simplified is a newly published book that translates the fundamentals of golf into the language of feel.  When golfers memorize the feeling in their hands of basic golf shots they are well on their way to excellent golf.

Arnold Palmer believes if you are really serious about playing good golf, stick to the basic fundamentals.     Yet only a small percentage of amateur golfers are aware of the feel a fundamentally sound golf swing.  When asked what sensation they are trying to recreate most golfers only shrug.  With a mind full of tips, their attention is elsewhere – golfers are distracted from the only feedback that leads to meaningful improvement.

Golfer frustration at learning the game is having a huge negative impact on the golf industry.  Over the last two decades the average number rounds played annually has declined.  The number of young people, aged 18 to 30 playing golf has dropped nearly 35 percent over the last decade.  Many attribute this decline to the difficulty of learning the game.

The author of Golf Simplified believes much frustration in learning golf is a result of simply a disconnect between expert golfers who instruct and students who can’t translate the instruction into feel.  After most golfers buy a 10 CD set on the golf swing, they are simply be too confused to know what to do.  Golf Simplified is a slim volume of 110 pages, profusely illustrated that just covers the fundamentals.

According to Jim Murray the sportswriter, golf is the most over-taught and least-learned human endeavor.  He believes if they taught sex the way they teach golf, the race would have died out years ago.  Golf Simplified won’t teach you a thing about sex, but it will teach you about feel.
