CARLISLE, Pa. - June 16, 2015 - PRLog -- The Carlisle GM Nationals are one of the fastest growing events on the annual Carlisle Events schedule.  Not only does this year’s show spotlight the past, present and future of the GM brand, it also gives guests a little more horsepower via autocross, drifting and the always popular burnout competition.  These three activities, plus onsite test drives allow guests to truly have a hands on feel for what GM products of all eras can do from a street and performance stand point.

During GM weekend, Carlisle Events is lucky enough to have UMI Performance supporting multiple autocross activities.  First, UMI backs the 2nd Annual Autocross Shootout Friday, June 26 at Carlisle.  The competition is open to anyone 18 or older with a valid driver’s license and insurance and starts at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the autocross track.  Interested participants can visit Guest Services until 3 p.m. to register for the contest. With only 20 spots available, space most certainly is limited and with $600 in cash prizes and trophies available, these spots will fill up fast.

If going fast is a must, then open autocross track time throughout event weekend is also available. Certain blocks of time are being carved out for vehicle owners to put their cars to the test.  It doesn't matter if the car is a brand new 5th Gen Camaro or a classic muscle car; the track is open to everyone!  All cars will be subject to a safety inspection by the hosts of open autocross, the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club (CVCC).  Bring a helmet for optimal safety and have fun as the CVCC times runs and offers advice for those looking to improve their driving skills.

No Saturday at Carlisle would be complete without the burnout contest.  This year’s burnout fun is sponsored by SLP (Street Legal Performance) and takes place late Saturday afternoon.  Nearly a dozen drivers will compete for the title of “King of the Hill,” bragging rights and some goodies from both Carlisle Events and SLP.  It’s free to sign up, but drivers must have a valid license and insurance to participate.

Finally, as the show winds down, business really picks up on the autocross track.  Carlisle Events and SLP welcomes 2013 Formula Drift Champion Michael Essa to town.  Essa will be at the Carlisle GM Nationals showcasing his drifting skills on the autocross course in his specially prepared 5th Gen SLP sponsored Camaro. The drifting exhibition takes place Sunday only and starts at approximately 11 a.m.

Combine those activities with test drives from Lawrence Chevrolet and Nitro Fest with Bruce Larson, and guests coming to Carlisle have an action packed weekend guaranteed to leave them wanting more.
