LITCHFIELD, Conn. - June 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Born in Englewood, NJ, Mary Helen (Mimi) Davis discovered her passion for art and expression while attending Dana Hall School in Wellesley, MA. She then went on to Briarcliff College where she majored in Drama. Even while raising a family she continued exploring the arts by enrolling in the Famous Artist School - a by-mail course in Westport, CT that Norman Rockwell founded - that taught her the basics of shading and drawing. Mimi also took courses at The Art Students League, School of Visual Arts and the Fashion Institute of Technology, all in New York City.

Once her children left home, she moved to Florida where she started teaching art to children in Boca Raton. This mushroomed into teaching all mediums to all ages - from three to eighty-three - in several venues. She went on to earn a BA in Art History from Florida Atlantic University and continued her education at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where she received a diploma in residential design.

Today Mimi divides her time between Pompano Beach, FL. and Salisbury, CT. She adores capturing the beauty of nature on paper, especially the changing seasons in CT. She says her passion for art “is addicting” and that she “can only go for a few days without painting.” Her work is in private collections worldwide.

The Jamie Gagarin Community Room and Gallery: July 1- August 28. Reception- Thursday, July 2, from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. at the Oliver Wolcott Library, 160 South Street, Litchfield, CT. 06759. 860-567-8030. www.owlibrary.org.
