NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - June 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Central Texas resident Gary Galbraith is looking forward to making a difference in the lives of his neighbors through his new business, Home Helpers & Direct Link of The Texas Hill Country.

Home Helpers is the nation’s leading franchise specializing in comprehensive home care for seniors, new mothers and individuals needing recuperative and continuing assistance. Direct Link is its proprietary line of 24/7 medical alert systems, including a fall sensor, automated medication dispenser and vital signs monitoring units. This new, locally-owned and operated business serves the Texas Hill Country including Bergheim, Blanco, Boerne, Canyon Lake, Fischer, Fredericksburg, Gruene, Hye, Kendalia, Kerrville, McQueeney, New Braunfels, Spring Branch, Stonewall, Willow City and the surrounding communities.

Gary earned a bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M University and worked as an environmental consultant for 30 years.  Two years ago, he started looking for his next career – something fulfilling and hands-on that would give him the opportunity to make a positive impact.

“As my parents aged, I became increasingly aware of the challenges facing many seniors and the benefits in-home care can provide. While I enjoyed my work as a biologist and consultant, I always wanted to do something that could make a difference in people’s lives in a hands-on way. As I witnessed the day-to-day struggles of my father, his wife and many of their friends their age, it became clear to me that in-home care was a field where I could truly make a difference in the lives of others,” Galbraith said.

“In 2014, I retired from environmental consulting so that I could pursue a fulfilling career that would make life easier for seniors and their families, new and expecting mothers, veterans and anyone else needing a little extra help. Home Helpers was the perfect fit,” he added.

Home Helpers & Direct Link offers free in-home consultations and works with each client to create a flexible, affordable care plan based on a person’s individual needs. Personal assistance services offered include companionship, laundry, light housekeeping, respite care, meal preparation and transportation as well as medication and care management.

Each individual client receives services to meet their specific needs by caregivers who are carefully screened and thoroughly trained. Home Helpers’ full-range of home care services empower clients to live healthier and more rewarding lives in the privacy, safety, and comfort of their own homes.  In addition to services provided to the senior community, help for short term recovery due to an accident and new mother relief services are common requests.

Gary said Home Helpers & Direct Link of The Texas Hill Country is different because of the company’s focus on bringing on the right people and putting them with the right clients.

“We take great care in selecting caregivers and we aren’t going to put just anyone into your home. We genuinely care about the well-being of our clients and it’s about more than having someone skilled. It’s about matching personalities and creating the right care partnerships,” Gary said.

Outside of Home Helpers & Direct Link, Gary and his wife Tracey are both long-term residents of central Texas with two children – Bristol, a senior at the University of Texas at Austin and Jordan, a freshman at Austin Community College.
