SACRAMENTO, Calif. - June 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Sacramento, California — 06/15/2015 — NorCal Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing announces the new dates and theme for its upcoming summer youth program. “Camp Grizzly” will begin August 2nd – 8th!  This week- long camp program is geared for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Kids who have Deaf Parents, and other children who are deaf-related. This year’s Camp Grizzly marks the 16th year of summer fun, new friends, and designed to promote self-esteem and building leadership. Camp Grizzly accepts campers from 7-15 years old and teens 16 -18 years of age may apply to become a Counselor-in-Training.

Camp Grizzly located at Camp Lodestar facility was founded on the philosophy “of, by, and for” Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, backed by an agency that this premise was built. The camp and its staff recognize the unique experience of a Deaf or Hard of Hearing child by eliminating all communication barriers and immersing campers in a rich language & cultural experience that other camps just can’t replicate. This year’s summer camp theme is SUPERHEROES!  Camp Grizzly staff will demonstrate and empower through leadership and team-building activities, that Deaf and Hard of Hearing kids can be their own superheroes.   Traditional summer camp activities will also be offered, including swimming, hiking, rope courses, arts and crafts, archery, camp Olympic Day, talent show, and dance night.

Camp Grizzly makes every effort to reduce the cost of tuition for its campers. The help of our generous sponsors allows us to offer camp tuition at a fraction of the true cost as well as funds our ability to offer scholarships for low-income campers. We can’t thank our wonderful sponsors enough! This year we have received generous support from: John L. Sullivan of Roseville Toyota, a member of the Sullivan Automotive Group, Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation Community Fund, Sacramento River Cats Foundation, Kelly Foundation, Setzer Foundation, Purple Communications, and the Finish Line Youth Foundation.
