Pursuit of Truth Film Producers Announce Second Film Project

The Producers of the award-winning film, Pursuit of Truth: Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse Seeking Justice, have begun their second film project.  Building from the recent experiences ofExecutive Producer/Co-Producer Valerie Gibson as a party in a case in which her adult son’s perpetrator sued her for defamation, the new documentary will focus on the aspects of survivors’ cases that occur “off-the-record,” that is, outside the courtroom, the case docket, or the public eye.

The film will address the legal system’s unwritten procedures, rules, and practices that systematically deny justice to survivors who seek justice against their abusers.  The documentary will shine a bright light on the “hidden” obstacles and impediments that block a survivor’s path to legal closure, including incompetent/uncaring first responders, inadequate legal representation,improper exercises of prosecutorial discretion, and judicial back-room decision-making.  The previously-undocumented processes too often pressure survivors into accepting unfavorable settlements and favor expediency over justice.

The film will give voice to these survivors and will expose the law’s covert injustices.  The film’s clear message will be that reforms are essential to make the legal system more transparent and more protective of the fundamental legal rights of adult survivors.
