Follow on Google News | Adoption Center and Pet Supply Grand OpeningBy: Hearts Alive Village Las Vegas Hearts Alive Village Las Vegas is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to secure loving and stable homes for dogs and cats at risk of being lost in the shelter system. Through a variety of programs such as Kendall's Kupboard (a pet food pantry), and Solutions over Surrenders which gives pet owners access to resources like training, financial assistance, and more, Hearts Alive aims to keep pets in their original homes whenever possible. They also provide Humane Education to youth groups throughout the valley, and transitional housing for a domestic abuse survivor."Over 20,000 animals are killed in the Las Vegas valley shelters each year," said Christy Stevens, founder of Hearts Alive Village, "For us, it has to be about more than the rescue." The adoption center features adoptable cats living in the Cozy Cat Cottage. Adoptable dogs live in foster homes and then spend their days relaxing in their custom Canine Cabanas. The animals all receive affection and attention from volunteers as they wait for potential families to meet and fall in love with them. The discount pet supply store sells NutriSource dog and cat food, new and gently used pet supplies including toys, beds, collars, and treats, pet themed art from local artists, custom cat trees, and more. There will be monthly community workshops, craft days for children, micro-chip and shot clinics, and more. All proceeds from the store help support the rescue's life saving programs. "This store will allow us to save even more lives, helping us adopt out more animals, and funding our community support programs," said Stevens. The grand opening and adoption event on June 20th will feature food, music, giveaways, a bake sale with treats for people and dogs, local artists, and plenty of adoptable dogs and cats. Guests can snap pictures with pets awaiting forever homes and post them on social media to help network the animals. Senator and animal advocate Mark Manendo will help kick off the festivities.
