Follow on Google News | American Dream Event in New York CityBy: Mike Veny, Inc. The event, co-chaired by CIANA and Rural and Migrant Ministry, promises to be a special occasion for all who attend. According to their website, “CIANA, the Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans, is a not-for-profit social services agency that serves new immigrants in New York City. CIANA specializes in providing culturally competent and language appropriate services to newcomers from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.” “The goal of the organization is to help new American citizens learn about their new country while simultaneously maintaining their personal identity from their native country,” said Veny. Besides the CIANA, Rural and Migrant Ministry is co-hosting the event. Mike Veny is a member of their Board of Directors for Rural and Migrant Ministry. Rural and Migrant Ministry taps into both professional and clergy for migrants. A cross-religious group, several different faiths are represented for any and all migrants, regardless of nationality or faith. “Despite what some may think, New York state has a very large and varied agricultural industry, and this industry brings migrants from all across the country to work. RMM works for the benefit of the migrants. Empowering them, providing support and encouragement and developing leadership skills is only a part of what we do,”said Veny. Both of these non-profits are working hard to see the American dream fulfilled for recent immigrants and farmworkers by nurturing leadership. “Our country was built on the labors of immigrants. It’s important that we keep that in mind.” says Veny. The event, scheduled for Thursday, June 25th at the Lower East Side Hotel Chantelle rooftop, is a chance for fellow New York City professionals to meet and network. The two hour event promises to be both educational and enlightening. A $30.00 ticket provides a drink ticket and opportunity for the raffle at the conclusion of the night. Several prizes are to be raffled on behalf of the organizations. All proceeds go to support and expand the goals of both groups. Veny is very excited about the upcoming prospects and chance he has meet new people. “My primary business is corporate drumming workshops and team building. I am excited about meeting others and sharing knowledge with them. I am also excited to learn what the future holds for both groups. It is a strong hope that we will be able to continue working together in the future for the joint benefit of all new Americans,” said Veny.
