Social partner dancing is all about connection. In a world that’s so digitally/electronically connected, we have never been so disconnected socially; fathers are disconnected from families, neighbors from neighborhoods, communities from police, people from government, government from the people. Our goal is to use Urban Social Partner Dance to reconnect us to our humanity, our humanity to the creation and the creation to the creator. This is not a new idea. The arts and artist have always been at the core of progressive social change in America. From Jazz & Swing (Lindy Hop) to Disco & The Hustle, Urban Social Partner Dancing has always influenced the social construct, especially in the African American community in New Orleans, beginning with Congo Square in 1817. Our aim is to use that spirit of our ancestors, that gave us Jazz & Swing, to reconnect us to each other, one beat, one step, one song, one dance at a time.
