CHICAGO - June 16, 2015 - PRLog -- -- Do face-to-face relationships matter today in our age of technology? Does the “Sharing Economy” help or hurt the meetings and events industry? It’s okay to disagree, but one thing meeting and travel industry pros can all agree on is this: trends are disrupting the way we do business.

LEADING MEETINGS, EVENT and TRAVEL INDUSTRY PROS DEBATE DISRUPTIVE TRENDS

Katie Callahan-Giobbi, EVP, Minding Your Business, Inc., panel moderator says, “This year’s IX will be a bold departure from previous years. Rather than hearing about industry trends – you’ll debate them! You can participate or just watch the fun as two teams battle it out on stage and debate the top disruptive trends that challenge our industry today. They debate. You vote. We all learn.” Two teams will debate for and against two topics.

Debate Topic 1: The “Sharing Economy” is good for the meetings & events industry. Team A will argue in favor of this statement. Team B will argue against it.

Debate Topic 2: Considering today’s reality of technology in our industry, face-to-face relationships still matter. Team A will argue against this statement. Team B will argue in favor.

Team A will be represented by . . .

Kelly Peacy, CAE, CMP, Senior Vice President, Education and Meetings, Professional Convention Management Association [PCMA]

Felix Neispodziewanski, Director Conventions and Meetings, American College of Surgeons

Francine Pepitone, Vice President Business Development , InnerWorkings, Inc.

Wilson G. Tang, Senior Director, Experience Design & Digital Strategy, FreemanXP

Team B will be represented by . . .

Carol McGury, MPS, Executive Vice President, Event and Education Services at SmithBucklin Corporation

Marty Balogh, Associate Executive Director, Meetings and Travel Group, American Bar Association

Brian Palmer, President, National Speakers Bureau

David Adler, CEO and Founder at BizBash

Before each topic debate begins, event organizers will poll the audience to see how they weigh in. These results will remain hidden until the end of the debate, when the audience will be polled  again. Based on which team “moved the needle” the most, they will be declared the winner of that debate. This is all for fun and education; there will be no prizes other than bragging rights at the cocktail party following the session
