Ways of the Earth Living Museum Opening in July

Natural history comes to life creating a one of a kind outdoor experience

BLOOMINGDALE, Ind. - June 12, 2015 - PRLog -- The Living Museum, slated to open July 11th, is a genuine primitive village in which residents live using primitive skills on a daily basis. The village, which began construction in September 2014, is built on a 240 acre property in Bloomingdale, IN just 4 miles from the popular Turkey Run State Park and consists of a variety of primitive shelters, a long house, organic garden and various skills areas. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

Visitors to the Living Museum can spend the day exploring the various shelters and seeing a wide variety of skills being used including fire by friction, stone and bone tools, natural cordage, primitive cooking, wild edible plants and primitive gardening techniques, food preservation and storage, hide tanning, pottery, basket making, animal tracking, primitive archery, traps and hunting techniques and much more. Instead of seeing artifacts under glass, guests will experience them being made and used and get to try some of the skills for themselves.

President Debbie Tremel says, "Not only are these skills fascinating and worthy of preserving into the future, they also connect us with nature in a profound way and remind us of the importance of taking care of the natural world."

In addition to the Living Museum experience, the non-profit organization will also offer programs to learn primitive living skills, community primitive dinners and special educational and recreational programs for schools and youth groups.
