Broward Meals On Wheels Awarded Banfield Charitable Trust Grant

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - June 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Broward Meals on Wheels is proud to announce it has been named as a 2015 grant recipient from Banfield Charitable Trust, in support of their Meals for Companion Pets Program.

The mission of Banfield Charitable Trust is to deliver programs across the country that maintain the human-pet bond. They offer support for emergency and preventive veterinary care, help struggling pet owners with their pet care needs, and offer grants to pet-related organizations that are assisting with providing proper treatment, care and nutrition to pets.

The volunteer team at Broward Meals on Wheels spearheads the Meals for Companion Pets Program, which delivers pet food once a month to home-bound seniors who need assistance taking care of their animals. Pet food is provided through the generosity of community donors like Banfield Pet Hospital, Hollywood Animal Hospital and PetSmart.

Broward Meals on Wheels is part of a national network, Meals on Wheels America, the only national organization and network dedicated solely to ending senior hunger in America. The Association is the oldest and largest organization composed of and representing local, community-based Senior Nutrition Programs in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
