Local Football Official Being Inducted into Canton

ALBANY, N.Y. - June 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Albany, June 12, 2015:  Joe Friers, Ballston Spa, received a call last week he was not expecting.  With nearly 30 years’ experience officiating football for the semi-pro leagues, Joe was selected to be part of the American Football Association’s Hall of Fame “Class of 2015."

The American Football Association’s Hall of Fame selection committee has completed its annual task of reviewing personal profiles of qualified individuals nominated for induction into the Semi-Pro/Minor League Football Hall of Fame. As part of the "Class of 2015", Joe was selected along with 16 others from across the US for enshrinement this year.  Joe is the only football official being inducted this year.

The 35th Annual AFA Semi Pro/Minor League Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 26^th in Canton, Ohio.

Joe continues to referee high school football in the Capital District and is also is an ECAC college football official.  Joe joins a long list of Capital District football officials who have been recognized nationally for their service to football.  This includes many former Capital District youth football officials who have gone on to officiate major Division I NCAA games in conferences around the country.
