“We recognize that pets become family, and when one experiences the loss of a pet’s companionship, it is often difficult to find a safe environment to grieve,” said Marla Noel, president of Fairhaven. “Co-workers, friends and even family may not understand the depth of loss that a pet lover feels.” Noel added, “I have experienced first-hand the feelings of devastation that accompany the loss of a pet and I have wished I had an open forum to express and deal with the pain. Our pet grief support group will do just that – provide a supportive environment for individuals to find hope and healing after losing their furry loved ones.” With locations in Santa Ana (http://www.fairhavenmemorial.com/ To enhance Fairhaven’s grief support expertise in pet bereavement counseling, Fairhaven obtained pet grief certification from the nationwide Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (http://www.aplb.org/) Fairhaven’s monthly pet grief support group will take place at 6 p.m. on three Tuesdays during the summer: Aug. 18, Sept. 15, and Oct. 20.To register for Fairhaven’s pet grief support group or for more information, contact Ruth Velez at rvelez@fairhavenmemorial.com or call (714) 633-1442.
