Costco to Host Book Signing for Local Elmwood Park Author

ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. - June 10, 2015 - PRLog -- The Village of Elmwood Park celebrates its centennial journey in Elmwood Park, in Arcadia Publishing’s popular Images of America series.   In this title, Elmwood Park resident and historian Kenneth J. Knack traces the history of the Village through more than 200 historic images. From being a rail-stop amid the farmlands to a modern community, Elmwood Park is a quintessential postwar bedroom suburb that attracted Italian Americans leaving old Chicago neighborhoods

Noted for its’ restaurants and food stores, Elmwood Park is a culinary treasure trove. This new title dedicates an entire chapter to the past and present eateries that have dotted the streets and kept residents and visitors satisfied.

Knack worked with both the Village of Elmwood Park and the Elmwood Park Public Library to compile the images featured in this book.  Knack hopes his research will generate similar interest amongst citizens, “I hope my work will foster an interest in Elmwood Park’s history and homes and will contribute to that feeling of community I found while researching this book” he stated.
