BROOKLYN, N.Y. - June 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Maison Sijilmassa (http://maison-sijilmassa.com/) (see-jill-moss-ah), an importer of exotic upscale design elements, is causing a stir by introducing modern one-of-a-kind powder room sink styles to the Tethys Sea Bath line of their museum-worthy Ancient Seabed Natural Fossil Stone Collection sourced from the Sahara desert in Morocco.

Perfect for pool houses, indoor/outdoor bar areas, as well as guest baths, these sinks are sculpted from stone containing naturally preserved extinct marine life unearthed at the original location of primitive oceans. With homeowners and designers in mind, the collection offers original and aesthetically unforgettable options in a sustainable natural material.

‘Powder rooms aren’t just the jewel box of the home, they can also become its personal signature,’ notes co-founder and Sahara desert native Salem Boudine. ‘For a guest experience that captivates, our natural fossil stone sinks are an intriguing juxtaposition of modern style and functionality with ancient material. Their surfaces reveal an authentic visual journey through eons that, frankly, inspire imaginations. And that’s always something worth remembering.’

Material + Origin
Ancient Seabed Natural Fossil Stone Collection, created from a hard limestone that polishes to a shine, is quarried from the Sahara desert in Morocco, the location of a prehistoric seabed. Found in a selection of color ranges that include terracotta brown, dark brown, black, and gray, it is available as dimensional tiles, slabs and quarry blocks, as well as custom bath and dining surfaces.

Orthoceras, the rocket-shaped fossil figure, and Ammonites, the spiral-shaped fossil form, are the prehistoric sea life naturally preserved throughout this material and still visible today in the Ancient Seabed Natural Fossil Stone Collection.

It all began in a primitive ocean nearly a half billion years ago when Orthoceras first appeared during the Paleozoic era, or about 240 million years before dinosaurs. Orthoceras disappeared around 200 million years ago during the the early Mesozoic era, or beginning of the Age of Dinosaurs. Ammonites began to appear about 435 million years ago disappearing with the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. Fossils of Orthoceras and Ammonites found in the Sahara desert are among the oldest examples of theses sea creatures, dating back to the Paleozoic era.

Orthoceras and Ammonites inhabited a prehistoric marine environment known as the Paleo-Tethys Ocean, which then became the Tethys Ocean, and was initially located where present day India, Pakistan, Indonesia and the Indian Ocean now sit. This primordial ocean traveled around the surface of the Earth through the eons evolving and transforming into what we know today as the Sahara desert region in Morocco.

Tethys Sea Bath Modern Designs
Influenced by homeowners’ utmost desire for a bathroom to be that indulgent space where one relaxes, renews and reconnects mind, body and soul, the contemporary sink with counter space styles and names of the Tethys Sea Bath Design line support each of these aspirations. With elegant simple vessel basins or organic-edged profiles, these centerpiece sinks are a luxuriously authentic high point, courtesy, in part, of planet Earth. There are eight total designs available in this line.

Inner Sea Sanctuary: Featuring a symmetrically placed vessel basin framed by clean-lined counter space in a polished surface, Inner Sea Sanctuary is intended to be a centering experience that calms and balances the visitor during private reflective moments. Created from a soothing neutral tone of the terracotta brown color range found in natural fossil stone, both rocket-shaped Orthoceras and spiral-shaped Ammonites are visible throughout. This style measures 43.2 in x 24 in. Due to the natural placement of fossils and color ranges, each piece if one-of-a-kind.

Ancient Origins: As suggested by the raw, organic edge that frames the sunken basin with counter space design in a honed surface, Ancient Origins is the perfect complement to an unexpectedly sensual encounter as one slips away to enjoy that private moment to decompress or recompose. Sculpted from an earthy reddish-brown hue of the terracotta brown color range found in natural fossil stone, both rocket-shaped Orthoceras and spiral-shaped Ammonites are visible throughout. Measurements are 38.4 in x 22.8 in. Due to the natural placement of fossils and color ranges, each piece is one-of-a-kind

Meditative Marine Ritual: Asymmetrically aligned vessel basin and clean edged counter space style of this hand sculpted model evokes a creatively serene mindset for your most introspective moments - a flawless accompaniment to all daily and evening rituals. Carved from the deep black color of natural fossil stone, only naturally preserved rocket-shaped Orthoceras is visible throughout. This design measures 38.4 in x 24 in. Due to the natural placement of fossils and color ranges, each piece is one-of-a-kind.
