Follow on Google News | Free Online Teleseminar Series focuses on Self-Care for CaregiversThe Series is designed for family members who are caregivers for a relative with a mental disorder (includes mental illness and Alzheimer’s/ Together, the live interviews present numerous methods for self-care in a user-friendly format for family caregivers of those with a mental disorder who want information about self-care options to make their lives easier and their care-giving more joyful and peaceful. The Taking Care of the Caregiver Series began in April. Looking back on previous sessions, Lampl says, “I would like to express my gratitude to the presenters that I had the pleasure of listening to throughout April and into May. In that time we were exposed to the wonderful tool of journaling which served to help uncover unconscious beliefs and thought patterns that hold us back. We gained clarity about how to be a more effective parent when dealing with difficult behavior patterns in children. We learned the importance of releasing and letting go of automatic, negative responses to unexpected events—and that when you do the answers come more quickly and trauma can be avoided. And finally, we enjoyed hearing about mind/body practices that we can use to bring about positive changes for ourselves.” The seminars are held on various days of the work week, Monday-Friday, all between 1:00 PM and 6:00 EDT. Each presentation is about 45-minutes long, with time allotted for Q&A at the end. Family caregivers of people with mental disorders, who are looking for resources, practices, ideas, and tools to support their ability to take better care of themselves and/or their loved one can use the Series to gain much-needed knowledge. Lampl states, “Fortunately, caregivers don’t have to simply withstand their difficulties alone. There are things that they can do to help them make it through troubled times. If you find yourself falling short, remember that you aren’t alone.” These teleseminars were designed to help family caregivers navigate choppy waters as they care for loved ones.
