SHAFER, Minn. - June 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Keeping expensive equipment running smoothly with minimum downtime is a big challenge for maintenance technicians and engineers. Over the past 2 years, more and more maintenance professionals have discovered a pocket sized gizmo that can give them an instant rating of oil condition, and even alert them to impending equipment failure before it happens.

The Lubricheck digital oil tester has proven to be a great help on the job site, or in the shop or factory. Now oil condition can be tested in seconds, versus waiting days or even weeks for a full lab analysis. By reacting to all types of contamination in the oil, this ingenious device will help determine if an oil sample should be sent to a lab for analysis, or if the equipment tested may need a more thorough inspection. If the Lubricheck gives a green light, the next scheduled oil change may be safely extended to cut unnecessary maintenance down time, and lubricant and labor costs. (This has been a big hit with cost conscious management).

Matt Spurlock (CLS, CMRP, CRL) of Advanced Machine Reliability Resources, Inc. has been bringing Lubrichecks to his on-site lubrication training courses. He shows technicians how this pocket sized tester can make their job easier by catching lubrication issues, or developing mechanical failures, such as bad seals or bearings. Matt recently wrote, "The Lubricheck is by far the most cost effective tool on the market today to determine if an engine oil is still suitable for use. The ease of testing and overall accuracy of the unit is something that even the novice automobile owner can wrap their hand around."

Kenneth Bannister, author, maintenance consultant, and contributing editor at Maintenance Technology Magazine, explained the Lubricheck this way. "At the heart of the Lubricheck unit is a battery-operated sensor that sets up an electrical excitation field, which changes in a known manner when a fluid, such as oil, is placed on the sensor pad. When oil becomes oxidized, it also becomes acidic and will affect the electrical field differently than new oil. Lubricheck’s electronics interpret these types of changes and display them through a series of 10 LED lights that light up GREEN (when the oil tests OK), or AMBER or RED when it doesn’t (depending on the severity of condition problems and the urgency of a change-out). Although the unit is primarily designed for fleets and can be switched to analyze diesel or gas engine oil, it can also be used to check most lubricating oils".

The Lubricheck may be purchased for under $50 from Amazon, or directly from the Lubricheck.com website, and is designed and manufactured in the USA.
