Follow on Google News | Self-Help Fantasy: An Empowering New Book Genre Has Kickstarted In DallasDallas author used Kickstarter to fund his Self-Help Fantasy genre
By: Idea Fortress Media His novel, “The Realmsic Conquest: The Hero of Legend”, (348 pages, ISBN: 978-1500596118) The book series follows the compelling saga of the fictional, Realm, earth’s only magical kingdom. Invaluable life-lessons are presented throughout the story as the characters struggle to end an eternal war caused by their magic. Jackson believes readers of all ages will strongly identify with his characters and the problems they confront, and will be inspired "to overcome their own life's challenges. Hence, the self-helping aspect of the novels." Within his Kickstarter video, Jackson alluded to his motivation for pioneering this new book genre. He stated that growing up came with no instruction manual, and that sometimes the only guidance or encouragement young people received was from television programs, movies, and books. Jackson experienced this first-hand growing up in Washington, DC during the 1980’s. Although coping with extreme hardships, continuous encouragement uplifted him above those obstacles. Now, through his self-help fantasy series, he intends to encourage other teens and young adults who are working to reach their potentials. Jackson also claims that his successful Kickstarter campaign was as much a personal victory as it was professional. His relocation to Dallas last year came after experiencing the unexpected loss of his mother and a divorce from his six-year marriage. Jackson stated that “It was a tremendously rough time in [his] life. But it’s those types of experiences that shape who we are. You learn and you grow.” The overall positive reception of his novel perhaps proves that there is indeed an audience for self-help fantasy from an author who has lived the life lessons he writes about. ABOUT: Demethius Jackson is an alumnus of American University’s School of Communications in Washington, D.C. Throughout his 12-year career, he held positions at global media and cinema companies. In July 2010, he published his first book. Initially releasing ‘The Realmsic Conquest’ as a completely rhyming epic-adventure, he spent the following years expanding the story of the Realm at the request of fan-feedback. End
