Local Business Owner and Resident Launches a Women’s Networking Group

READING, Mass. - June 7, 2015 - PRLog -- On Thursday May 28, Stork Ready owner Karen Chipman launched the first Women Networking Together event at her studio on Main Street located behind The Wishing Well Gift Shop, there were 12 other local women business owners at the event. “I have always believed in supporting the community and networking with other businesses, especially women owned businesses,” stated Chipman who has been teaching childbirth and pregnancy classes for 27 years. Women Networking Together will connect other local women business owners and provide an opportunity to collaborate.

Women owned businesses are good for the community and are one of the fastest growing types of businesses which is no surprise to communities like Reading and North Reading where many of the independent businesses are owned by women. In Reading women own the majority of the businesses on Main and Haven Street. In regards to Chipman she taught for ISIS Parenting, Tufts Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital and Hallmark Health and is currently working in Labor and Delivery for a hospital in Boston. It was always her passion and dream to open her own Pregnancy and Parenting Facility. That dream become a reality in January 2014 when ISIS Parenting announced their closing and she quickly acted to fill a niche opening Stork Ready on March 2, 2014.

Businesses in attendance were a mix of brick and mortars and home based businesses; Tammy’s Second Chance Consignment, The Wishing Well Gifts, Nails by Christina, The Hitching Post Gift Shop, Heavenly Salon, GPHT  Personal Training, Bacci Chocolate Design/The Chocolate Truffle, Nerium International, Brissonte’ Gifts and Home Décor, Denise’s Oil and Scents, Team Beachbody and Younique. The first meeting was a general introduction of local women business owners telling about their businesses and what works best for their success. "It was great connecting and getting to know everyone and especially for all the great nuggets shared." Julia Slavin of Nerium International shared.

The Networking events will offer opportunities for guest speakers and seminar presentations focused on helping women ownded businesses succeed.

About Women Networking Together: Meetings are one Thursday a month and open to Women Business Owners only. Meetings will include guest speakers and seminar always followed by refreshments and time to get to know each Business Woman better.
