Core Athletics brings International Triathlon 2015 to New Delhi

DELHI, India - June 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Good news for fitness enthusiasts and athletes of India, Delhi is all set to host an international Triathlon in the first week of June. It is going to be the first time that India will host a Triathlon event of international level. A Triathlon is an endurance race that consists of three different sports disciplines which usually are Running, Swimming and Cycling. The event is scheduled to take place in and around Talkatora Stadium in the heart of New Delhi city on Sunday 7^th June at 5am IST. Along the Triathlon, a Duathlon event will also simultaneously take place for those endurance race enthusiasts who cannot swim. The Duathlon event will only have cycling and running disciplines.

Core Atheletics, a leading sports Apparel brand of India is sponsoring this mega international event. Vatika Grover, founder of Core Athletics spoke about the idea of bringing such an event to India. She said “Our main idea behind bringing a Triathlon event to Delhi was to promote health and fitness culture amongst Indians. We are also using this event as an opportunity to raise awareness for reducing carbon footprint as taking to cycling can help in lowering the carbon emissions by automobiles in cities.”

According to Vatika Grover, it was her long standing dream to do something of this huge scale for sports and fitness enthusiasts of India. I have been watching ‘Iron Man championship’ for many years and gradually it became an obsession for me to see to it that a Triathlon event of equal magnitude is brought to India too and I am so very glad that all my dreams and efforts are finally going to make it happen.” She further stated that she is overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response she has got for the event and is now assured of its grand success.

Indian sports experts too feel that events like New Delhi Triathlon will contribute a lot towards promoting the culture of sports and fitness in India. Echoing similar sentiments Vatika Grover articulated “India has produced sportspersons and athletes of world-class quality like Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza, Mary Kom and many more and at Core Athletics, wewould like more and more of our youngsters to emulate them and be like them, and even better. With events like Triathlon we are contributing towards the goal of uplifting the spirit of sports culture amongst our youngsters by giving them the “Big stage” experience”

Bibs for the event can be collected on Saturday 30^th June at Cyclofit Concepts, Lajpat Nagar and on Sunday 31^st June at Firefox/Trek Store, MGF Plaza Mall, Mehrauli, between 4pm and 8pm.
